Job Requirements

Education: - Doctorate degree (PhD) in life sciences, Health Science/Clinical Pathology or related discipline from an accredited university - Essential - Post-doctoral fellowship in Life Sciences, Health Sciences or related discipline - Preferred Work Experience: - Minimum of (10) years working experience in research intensive institution, (5) years of which in a senior managerial role in research - Essential Other Requirements: - Has undertaken and contributed a sufficient amount of literature as principal investigator and co-investigator for research work to have been published in international journals within the last two years - Essential - Recommendation from Credentialing Committee of KAIMRC or Executive Director of KAIMRC - Essential

Job Responsibilities

- Lead overall work in relation to scientific strategy and direction with a particular focus on research translation, quality improvement and professional leadership. - Provide high level of scientific advice and expertise to the Management Board, Council, Professional Advisory Groups and any other scientific committees. - Responsible for providing strategic scientific advice and inputs to healthcare science and science policy development and implementation and work closely with all KAIMRC scientists in all regions. - Plan and administer policies and procedures for all aspects of KAIMRC Scientific activities. - Liaise with other functional/departmental management to ensure that they understand all aspects and needs. - Direct and observe the scientific functions of KAIMRC, including basic and applied research projects, as well as the development of new scientific processes, technologies or products. - Oversee all scientific operations to ensure the laboratory members meet its milestones and all other objectives. - Ensure up to date knowledge of continuous technology flow and timely dissemination of this knowledge. - Work with the Executive Director to set the strategic and policy framework and scientific direction of the network and achieve the outcomes. - Identify funding opportunities and develop collaborative research funding proposal. - Oversee and support the scientific aspects of the work to be performed by the Strategic Research Teams. - Work with the Board of Directors, the Strategic Research Teams, and the Steering Committee to develop and recommend strategies to build research capacity among the partnering governments and assist in fundraising activities. - Ensure that the integrity and profile of KAIMRC scientifically is maintained at high level. - Develop and maintain high quality and productive collaborative relationships with KAIMRC business partners. - Perform other duties as required.
