Job Requirements

English Language skills: IELTS: 6, STEP: 75, or TOEFL: (PBT: 500) (IBT: 61) - Essential Education: - Master Degree in Medical Physics or related or equivalent from an accredited university- Essential - Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Medical Physics - Preferred Work Experience:: - Minimum of five (5) years postgraduate Medical Physics experience in the area of Diagnostic Radiology and/or Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Safety or related with at least one (1) year in supervisory capacity - Essential Special Skills: - Background in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Physics and functions - Essential

Job Responsibilities

1. Engage in technical procedures, which form part of patient care. 2. Contribute to the development of diagnostic techniques (e.g. Mammography, CT, Digital Radiography, etc.) 3. Develop techniques to improve medical imaging procedures. 4. Conduct Acceptance Testing and routine Quality Control tests for diagnostic modalities including Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, MRI and Mammography . Maintain a complete record of the survey results. 5. Train and advise junior Medical Physicists on new equipment and protocols. 6. Negotiate and agree changes to patient diagnosis techniques in response to new procedures. 7. Process complex patient image data. 8. Respond to problems and provide advice and technical assistance to concerned departments. 9. Research new equipment developments and techniques, assess the impact on and review existing local practice, advising on procurement of new equipment and compiling reports to initiate changes. 10. Commission new or upgraded diagnostic equipment to achieve compatibility with existing machines . 11. Monitor diagnostic equipment to ensure that correct and consistent results or outputs are achieved and ensuring that ongoing maintenance routines arc followed. 12. Ensure all radiator safety practices are adhered to, including the safe operation of radiation equipment and handling of radioactive materials. 13. Participate in staff training, teaching and researches of a clinical nature. 14. Draft and develop policies pertaining to operating the equipment 15. Monitor patient radiation doses in diagnostic examinations. 16. Assist in maintaining a Radiation Safety program for all staff involved in the operation of diagnostic equipment, including the monitoring of staff occupational radiation exposure and maintain a complete record of the results of the monitoring program. 17. Provide appropriate diagnostic equipment protection information to all staff involved in the operation of Radiation equipment.
