Job Requirements

Education: - Bachelor degree in Animal or Veterinary Science or related discipline or equivalent from accredited college/university- Essential. - Completion of higher level degree in an animal surgical, imaging or scientific discipline –Essential. Work Experience: - Minimum of eight(8) years’ experience working in a veterinary practice or animal research facility of which at least two (2) years intensive surgical experience in a veterinary or research institution- Essential. - Experience in application of quality assurance systems in a laboratory animal facility – Preferred. English Language Skills: Level- I- Essential Arabic Language Skills: Preferred. Computer Skills: Level II- Essential

Job Responsibilities

Main Areas of Responsibility: - Manage the Research Center’s Surgical Facility Operations. - Collaborate with researchers on the development and implementation of animal research projects. - Advise researchers on the design and application of experimental methods and protocols. - Perform surgical, testing and monitoring procedures and on various laboratory animal species. - Teach surgical, dosing, samplings and monitoring techniques to students, staff and researches. - Provide support to research projects through responsible care of animal subjects. - Supervise relevant anesthesia systems and protocols for various animal species. - Liaise with vivarium staff, External suppliers and research group on laboratory animal requirements. - Ensure the effective and timely provision of veterinary, clinical and technical services. - Ensure full operational compliance with relevant regulatory and ethical standards. - Ensure that the surgical facility and equipment is maintained at a high operational standard. - Supervise the activities of veterinary surgical assistant and anesthesia staff. - Manage the inventory of veterinary surgical and medical supplies. - Maintain records and documents according to operational and quality management standards. - Collaborates with and provide high quality feedback to the senior Veterinarian. - Perform other job related duties as assigned.
